Whatever happened to personal responsibility? In this society you can pretty much do whatever you want to do – unless the views or beliefs do not match the dominant culture. This is the main problem. The dominant culture will never be able to fully understand the needs and wants of those who are not involved in the "mainstream." What is about to be said may surprise many but it is true. They never have, never will and should not be expected to. When in college, we were among many who felt that if only the "dominant" culture knew more about this particular historical fact, or more about this ethnic group or that ethnic group, that they would respect them more and understand them better and as a result, a more equitable relationship between all would emerge. It is true that the more you know about the nature and nurture of other people, the better you will be able to understand their collective actions, however it does absolutely nothing to raise the levels of cooperation. Stop making excuses and form a new reality. Quit waiting for someone else to frame the debate on issues that effect you and your people. At a time of increasing litigation, negligence and reasonable care are terms that many are becoming aware of, however, we at the TEI are terribly concerned with the lack of personal integrity which exists among many who live in America today. Example #1: An obnoxiously drunken patron prepares to leave a business establishment where he was served alcohol. If he goes out and is involved in an accident in which other are injured or killed, the establishment can be sued for not stopping them. It is morally and ethically right that the drunken patron be held responsible for the actions of because the actions of the individual endangers the well-being of others, however the drunken patron can sue the establishment for not stopping him from drinking. This may be possible if the patron was drinking at a bar where the bartender knows everyone, it can obviously be determined that he should not drive away however, what about at a major festival, or perhaps a sporting event where there are tens of thousands of people? Who is responsible then? Example #2: A gambler enters an establishment for the purpose of gambling. The establishment makes money off of gambling. If a drunken person continues to play and lose, they can turn around and sue the establishment for not stopping them. Example #3: An individual goes through the drive through at an eating establishment and purchases a cup of coffee. They spill coffee their coffee and as a result burn themselves. They can sue the establishment that served them the coffee. Example #4: People smoke cigarettes their entire lives while study after study says that it will cause lung cancer and/or emphysema. They attempt to sue the tobacco companies. Example #5 People eat fast food by the pound day in and day out, and then sue the fast food companies for “enticing” them with programs making their desire to eat the food in mass quantities uncontrollable. Did you notice something about all of the examples? They all represent vices and addictions that control people, yet the only legislation involves companies trying to protect themselves from liability. America (Western Civilization) is going down right in front of everyone's eyes as the emphasis on discipline, intelligence and personal responsibility declines. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Issue 2: Modern Day Sodom and Gomorrah in the United States of America Currently there is legislation that is on the table to give support to same sex "domestic partners. Same sex domestic partners will be able to register their union and as a result qualify for special tax breaks, benefits and other special considerations previously offered to marriage unions between a man and a woman. The liberal left almost unanimously maintains that there is nothing wrong with two people of the same sex showing their love for one another by solemnizing their declaration of love. The conservative right almost unanimously states that marriage should be between one man and one woman and maintains that this is the only marriage arrangement that should be recognized. This of course coming on the heels of the announcement of the creation of nation's first public high school for gays, bisexuals and transgender students typically in New York City. In a CNN.com article New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg was quoted as saying "I think everybody feels that it's a good idea because some of the kids who are gays and lesbians have been constantly harassed and beaten in other schools." Historically nerds have been persecuted, teased and beat down at their schools, is that a reason to create a separate school? The purpose of creating a separate schooling system is to teach a specific group of people certain knowledge that is specific to that particular group that is consistent with their belief system, not as a refuge to prevent taunting and teasing of the members of that group even thought that would be a part of the likely result. If they need to be protected from taunting now, wait until they step out into the real world, or is this the real world? Perhaps is this the view of tolerance that the ADL is always talking about? And now the Vatican has joined the chorus of voices speaking out against the recognition of same sex marriages. Apparently, the Catholic Church has decided that despite the alarming number of pedophilia cases within their own ranks, they can speak out on this topic and someone will actually care to take them seriously. With all of the discussion regarding different family structures, it has become obvious that individuals are becoming more and more tolerant and aware of different and in some cases clearly deviant cultural norms and practices. The fact that this is being seriously discussed not surprising, but instead the natural progression of a nation whose prestige, integrity and morality is spiralling downard. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Issue 3:The Fall of Kobe Bryant: Rapist or Victim of Femme Fatale Most of you already know that NBA Basketball star Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers has been charged with raping a 19-year-old Caucasian girl. Information is slowly leaking out about the alleged victims mental instability including previous suicide attempts, and bizarre behavior discussed by her friends who seem to have no problem going public with their views, even though the identity of the alleged victim is a closely guarded secret. When it was announced, in listening to the talking heads on CNN, MSNBC and FOX, the public has already been polarized on the basis of race. For the record, it is the position of the TEI that the accuser should be named as well as the accused. False accusations and tarnished reputations are the unintended consequence and wasted by product of a society that relies increasingly on litigation to solve disputes. Those making accusations should be held up to the same scrutiny as the accused. Many women have chosen lying to gain advantage or money and in many moments when logic has vanished and emotions hurl out of control, there is a tendency to do what they truly believe is expedient in the short-term without thought of the possible ramifications and how others will be affected in the long-term. This has been documented by psychologists as well as relationship experts dealing with these types of issues. On the other hand, if in fact the 19-year-old girl is a victim of the violation of rape, then she will be famous anyway and undoubtedly will be elevated by women's organizations as an example of women who stood up to rapists. Not to mention that Kobe Bryant will suffer a spectacular fall from grace that will be viewed by the world. We don't know what did or did not happen at the posh resort in Colorado where the alleged sexual assault was to have taken place. Information coming out from "witnesses" shows the same thing that occurs in a car wreck, the same event is viewed at the same time, yet there are as many different stories as witnesses. All we know is what Kobe admitted to. We can say without fear of being contradicted or proven wrong that over the next few months you will hear more details about that evening than we really care to know because of the formulaic saturation of the network and cable news media, and the laziness with which they conduct their reporting. Kobe Bryant should be commended for standing up and stating forthrightly that he committed adultery. He should take his punishment like a man and workout whatever needs to be worked out privately with his wife -- who loyally stood by his side. However, he should be roundly castigated and verbally lambasted for falling for one of the oldest tricks in the book used throughout time to limit and/or reduce the levels of male power and prestige -- the promiscuous Caucasian female. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Read TEI Factual Analysis: Race and Sports: A Multicultural Utopia or Bastion of Forbidden Truths http://truthinstitute.org/Factual.htm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Issue 4: Susan Desperately Seeking 31-year-old Susan Smith, the South Carolina woman who in 1994 drowned her own two sons age 3yrs and 14months recently placed an online personal ad through a Florida based communications and matching company. Apparently some were unhappy about the fact that the ad was placed and under pressure, she eventually apologized and pulled the ad. In 1994, Smith had originally claimed a Black carjacker took her car with her two sons inside, and went on national television pleading for their return, until finally admitting to their murder after numerous inconsistencies were uncovered after questioning. She actually strapped the children in her car and allowed the car to role into the lake. Apparently Smith is quite needy -- emotionally and otherwise -- since this is not the first time that Smith has been embroiled in controversy while seeking interaction and companionship while incarcerated. In 2000 she had several sexual encounters with a prison guard, in clear violation of the laws of the correctional institution resulting in his dismissal. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Issue#5 Mel Gibson's Film Rendition of the Life and Death of Jesus - Fact, Fiction or Folly? Mel Gibson's movie "The Passion" is already receiving attention from the ADL and other reactionary group who are (unsurprisingly) upset with the portrayal and depiction of Jews with regards to the plot detailed in the Biblical account of the life and death of Jesus. Even biblically speaking the bottom line is that there were some Jews -- quite a few in fact -- that wanted Jesus dead. Why is that "flaming the fires of anti-Semitism" or "feeding anti-Jewish sentiment" as is stated by Jewish groups? Religious icons and personalities are very enticing to film producers -- you cannot get around the fact that those who are attempting to have Mr. Gibson change his movie are engaged in censorship as well as their own form of revisionism. So far, Mr. Gibson is standing strong and has not capitulated to the will or succumbed to the threats of the ADL. The impact of this movie will probably be seen and felt internationally since the dialogue is in Latin and Aramaic and probably, according to the films producers, without subtitles. However, the ADL is fully aware that the vast majority of viewers in America who might view the movie possess only a surface knowledge of the life of the historical Jesus depicted in the scriptures. Others have only a surface knowledge of major points but lack detailed knowledge regarding critical aspects of his life and ministry. Some go to movies to be educated, some go to be simply entertained. They are worried that an aspect of the accepted story regarding the history of Jesus will be shown to some who will actually learn. They will find out that the ADL and members of the Jewish lobby possess the same mindset and attitudes of those Jews who wanted Jesus dead 2,000 years ago. Historical accuracy is historical accuracy -- even if aspects of history appear to be unflattering. This is a truism that the ADL and Israeli lobby will continue to ignore as they continue to whitewash history in their attempt to appear blameless and without blemish. There are many who will take the movie, view it and form their views -- similar to a propaganda piece. Many are too lazy to study for themselves, so they will allow others to interpret the information then present it as fact. In all cases, taking a closer look at things, even truths that have been widely accepted -- is good. Understand the power of images. We need to do the same in our efforts to achieve our goals. There is an important lesson to be learned in all of this so watch closely. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Whites In, Blacks Out - Gentrification And finally, Many traditionally Black middle-class neighborhoods are being taken over by white developers who are building new residences, as well as rehabilitating others. This makes excellent business sense. If those who reside in these targeted would stop complaining and start taking care of their neighborhoods, invest in their own neighborhoods and support their own businesses their communities would be strengthened against exploitation and interloping by outsiders who only want to make a profit.
